Why are some calling cards not compatible?
- Apple does not allow apps to dial '#' or '*'. Some cards require '#' or '*' to mark the end of the number you are dialing. These will not work with Smart Caller or any iPhone calling card app. We don't expect this to change because it’s a 'security feature' of the iPhone.
- iPhone dials tones slowly. Ever listen in when Smart Caller is dialing all the calling card codes and numbers for you? It sounds a bit slow doesn't it? Well it is; this is just how Apple built the iPhone. These tones are 'listened to' by the calling card computer at the other end, and a few of these systems are just impatient and hang up on you before Smart Caller finishes dialing all the tones! We've reported this problem to Apple.
- Smart Caller can't dial your pin/account number after the destination number. The vast majority of calling card computers use either pinless dialing (where you never dial a pin or account number) or ask for the pin number prior to the number you want to call. Smart Caller manual card set up is designed to support these common options. A few calling cards, however, want you to dial the destination number first and the pin second, which isn't supported by Smart Caller. It is designed this way to make the manual card set up effortless. We support the most common order: dial access number, then dial pin/account number, then dial destination number.
